HELP GET YOUR DOG SAFE & QUICKLY

  1. MICROCHIP: SMALL CHIP, BIG IMPACT
  • A microchip is your dog's permanent ID. It never falls off.
  • It must be updated to your current details.
  • If your details change, update them immediately with the microchip database.
  • OUTDATED DETAILS = DELAYED REUNION OR NO REUNION AT ALL.
  1. COLLAR & TAG: SIMPLE, BUT ESSENTIAL
  • By law, your dog must wear a collar with your name and your dog's details when in a public place.
  • A visible tag gets your dog home faster — or before they even reach the Warden.
  • Don't rely on a microchip alone. Not everyone checks.
  • A COLLAR & TAG COSTS MINUTES. LOSING YOUR DOG CAN COST EVERYTHING.
  1. MICROCHIP + COLLAR & TAG = THE FASTEST WAY HOME

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOUR DOG IS FOUND AND TAKEN TO A UK DOG WARDEN

  1. FOUND STRAY: Your dog is found by a member of the public, taken to a local authority dog warden.
  2. HEALTH CHECK: They will be scanned for a microchip and checked for tags.
  3. HOLDING PERIOD: By law, they must hold your dog for a minimum of 7 days.
  4. CONTACT ATTEMPTS: They will attempt to contact you using the microchip details or tag.
  5. REUNITED: You pay the release fee and any additional costs, then your dog comes home.

THE COSTS CAN ADD UP FAST: First day kennelling fee, Admin & paperwork fees. TOTAL COSTS CAN EASILY RUN INTO HUNDREDS OF POUNDS.

IF WE CAN'T CONTACT YOU: The holding time may be extended. If still cannot be found, your dog may be referred for rehoming. WORST CASE SCENARIO: If your dog cannot be rehomed, the warden may have to make a decision to put your dog to sleep.

DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN. A FEW MINUTES PREPARING TODAY CAN PREVENT A LIFE OF SORROW.

BE PREPARED. BE RESPONSIBLE. BRING THEM HOME.

  • Keep microchip details up to date.
  • Always use a collar with your details on.
  • Check regularly.
  • Because they can't tell us where they live.
  • They rely on you for everything.
