LUOSKO's first responsibility is not automatically bringing every dog into rescue. It is helping identify the safest, kindest and most realistic future for the dog in front of us — whatever that future looks like.
Asking for help is not failure
Reaching out for guidance is one of the most responsible things an owner can do. You are not the first person to face this, and you will not be judged.
Every possible future is explored
LUOSKO looks at each situation individually. Sometimes the best future is support at home, sometimes it is rehabilitation, and sometimes it is a carefully planned new beginning — but it is never assumed.
The right future isn't always rescue
Finding the right future for your dog might mean staying right where they are with the right support. The conversation helps us understand what the safest, kindest and happiest future looks like for your dog.
Emergencies can bypass the conversation at any time. If your dog is in immediate danger, use the Emergency Help option — visible throughout every step.
Before We Talk About Your Dog…
Before we ask you about your dog, we'd like to explain something important.
Many people believe a rescue's job is simply to take dogs into kennels.
That isn't how LUOSKO works.
Our responsibility is to find the very best welfare outcome for every individual dog.
Sometimes that means helping a family through a difficult period.
Sometimes it means behaviour advice.
Sometimes it means training.
Sometimes it means residential rehabilitation.
Sometimes it means practical support.
Sometimes it means exploring whether a working role could offer the right future.
Sometimes it simply means taking the time to listen.
And sometimes, despite everyone's best efforts, rehoming really is the kindest decision.
If that's where the journey leads, we'll walk it with you too.
Every Dog Needs A Future
When LUOSKO accepts a dog into rescue, we don't simply ask:
"Can we fit another dog into kennels?"
Instead we ask:
"What does this dog's future look like?"
Every dog entering rescue needs a realistic pathway. That might mean:

- ·experienced foster carers
- ·behavioural rehabilitation
- ·veterinary treatment
- ·specialist support
- ·residential rehabilitation
- ·working dog opportunities
- ·long-term welfare planning

The Waiting List Isn't A Queue
People often imagine a waiting list works like standing in line.
It doesn't.
Every dog is individually assessed.
A dog's position may change because:

- ·suitable foster space becomes available
- ·specialist rehabilitation becomes available
- ·another dog's welfare becomes more urgent
- ·a suitable adopter already exists
- ·veterinary needs change
Equally, another dog's circumstances may improve, allowing support to continue at home.

Emergency Situations We Recognise

The owner has passed away and the dog has no immediate carer.
Hospitalisation
The owner is admitted to hospital with no one able to care for the dog.

The owner is fleeing a domestic abuse situation and cannot safely take the dog.
Serious welfare risk
The dog is in immediate danger or neglect.
Homelessness
The owner has lost their home with nowhere for the dog to go.
