Why German Shepherds
German Shepherds are exceptional because they notice everything. They read their environment, their handler and the rhythm of a home with remarkable sensitivity.
That sensitivity is why they suffer when their needs are misunderstood. Specialist rescue matters because the breed deserves to be assessed through knowledge, not labels.

Where It All Started
LUOSKO was founded in 2014 by Stuart Harvey, alongside co-founder Andrew “Dru” Johns, beginning with two dogs — Lucca and Oscar — whose lives and lessons shaped the standards the rescue would hold for every German Shepherd that followed. Stuart continues to lead LUOSKO today. Dru retired his position with LUOSKO in September 2026 and no longer has any involvement.
In 2020, Luna's legacy became woven into the name. In 2025, that legacy was symbolically passed forward to Luther, Maus and Dakota. The dogs who came before still shape how we care for the dogs who arrive today.

LU
Lucca, Luther — the dogs who began and carry forward the first part of the name.
OS
Oscar, Maus — the steady hearts in the middle.

Riley, Dakota — the dogs who complete the name and the promise.
